White Knight Chronicles

So, this game has been getting hammered in reviews. I picked it up anyway, just as I said I would. If you clicked the review link pay attention to the user reviews on the bottom of the page. I love this game. So far. I'm not deep into the story yet, but the combat is decent. I like making my own combo. But the real shining star for me is the online. Maybe because I've never played a game like this online, but it's so much fun. I don't really have anything else to add. This is very short for a post, but I want to get back to the game. Ok. That's it.

Beige Alive Oscillator

Most recent on my radar is Red Dead Redemption. Its a sequel to Rockstars 2004 Red Dead Revolver.  At least I believe its a sequel. Could be a prequel, or a 're-imagining'. I passed on the first game. I explain in a previous post why I often do such foolish things. So anyway check this out.

Look Good? I think so. I especially like the red red krovvy. Real horrorshow. Or more seriously, the animations look good. I suspect this is due to the euphoria engine, also utilized by Rockstar in GTA IV. Character animation is high up on my list of what makes a game good. Its right after jaunty hats, and before epilepsy warnings. Of the three outfits featured in the video I'd be inclined to vote for the Expert Hunter outfit. The hunting looks to be an entertaining distraction from the main game. I'd never hunt in real life though. I eat meat, and I love it. I'd just prefer not to shoot my meal in the face, if its at all avoidable. And where I live, it is avoidable. Yet some here still like hunting. I just don't see the point. I can't see how pumping 12oz of buckshot into bambi's mother gets good.
Some say it makes hunters feel like men. Well, I have testicles. Those make me feel like a man. And women hunt too. And I have clearly forgotten what I was talking about. Oh that's right, insomnia. No, Red Dead Redemption. I don't believe I have anymore left to say. I tend not dig too deep into games I've found an interest in, to avoid subsequent spoilage. So what else? My WKC preorder did not arrive at my preferred EB today. 'Perhaps tomorrow' they said. It's getting hammered on metacritic, but as of this writing its meager score is based on a mere four reviews. 69 shouldn't be considered meager but nowadays it is. I have some thoughts on this but I'll share them some other time. For now I'll end with this not so interesting tidbit. I wanted to title this with a colour that rhymed just like the title of the game. However I could not think of a colour that rhymed with alive, or any synonym of alive. And despite what you've heard on the streets, purple does not rhyme with extant.

White Knight Chronicles killed my Bioshock

White Knight Chronicles finally releases here in NA tomorrow. I say finally because its been out in Japan for over a year and on my radar or more than two. The graphics seem a bit dated now after Uncharted and Demons Souls but I care not. Still excited for a JRPG on my PS3. The last one I played was Folklore, if that can even be considered a JRPG. I loved that game. I stayed away from Valkryia Chronicles because, well, I'm a pussy, and strategic rpg's frighten me. Anyway, here's my problem. I mistakenly thought Bioshock 2 was releasing tomorrow, the 2nd of February, and for some reason I believed WKC was releasing in March. Bioshock it turns out is releasing  on February 9th. This fucks up my well planned schedule. Boishock was supposed to lead me into Heavy Rain which would lead me into God of War which would lead me into WKC. There are other games that may or may not have peppered there way across that landscape but those were the mainstays. But now Bioshock is out. Its funny because just a few days ago I read an article on N4G that discussed the possibility of PS3 gamers passing on Bioshock 2. At the time I thought it was absurd, seeing how I enjoyed the first so much. And now here I am, a PS3 gamer, passing on Bioshock 2. It may find its way into my hands sometime down the road but more often is the case that a game I intend to play eventually never gets played. Other games burst from the pipeline, new information breeds hype for the future, and I forget. There is vague knowledge of games from months past, somewhere in my brain, that I know I wanted to play, but are impossible to recall. What was that Jack Black, Tim Schafer game? Brutal Legend ( thanks, google! ) I think I wanted to play that. I liked Psychonauts. But then I think, well, if I can barely recall the game, how much did I want to play it? And it seems Bioshock 2 may fall into that pit of apathy. I'll miss out, and probably be worse off for doing so, if it lives up to or surpasses the first. Well, we'll see, I guess.
